New York Oud

Bond No. 9 is proud to announce the FiFi win of its fragrance NEW YORK OUD for Perfume Extraordinaire. The category recognizes the most extraordinary olfactive creation launched during the year – specifically the craftsmanship measured by the design, signature and quality. The perfume is an expectation-defying oud—a beautiful contradiction that re-invents, modernizes, and urbanizes this exotic accord, giving it a unique New York verve. The award also uniquely celebrates the perfumer responsible for the perfume. IFF’s Laurent Le Guernec, the visionary behind the scent of New York Oud graciously accepted the award together with Bond No. 9 founder Laurice Rahme.

Every fragrance house and manufacturer with an in-house perfumer who is a member entity of the Fragrance Foundation was eligible to submit one entry – masculine, feminine, or unisex. Each was submitted blind and then assigned a code. The submissions must have been created for the market in 2011 and were judged on aesthetic quality – creativity and artistry – not on commercial viability. Perfume Extraordinaire entries were judged by an independent panel of fragrance authorities known only to the Fragrance Foundation.

In her acceptance speech Rahme thanked her “beloved New York” – a place where impossible, magical paradoxes come true – “for the wonderful inspiration” for this award winning fragrance.
