In the undisputed art capital of the world, professional artists and students alike made pilgrimages to Blick on Bond until 2022, when it closed and relocated further downtown near Canal Street. The original artistic heritage of Bond Street, however, remains forever infused in its cobblestone streets. Originally constructed as The Robbins and Appleton Building, #1 Bond Street was completed between 1879 and 1880. Designated a landmark in 1979 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, the building, designed by architect Stephen Decatur Hatch, features an ornate cast iron façade that exemplifies Second Empire style and reflects the creative architectural diversity that defines Bond Street.
