Stedelijke Vernieuwing

Sinds wanneer ontstaan er nieuwe wijken in New York? Bijna nooit. Deze stad zit immers al bomvol met zo'n beetje elk denkbaar soort gemeenschap. Dus als er een nieuw stadsdeel komt, kun je er zeker van zijn dat we iets compleet anders te wachten staat. Een onwaarschijnlijke luchtbrug, omzoomd met betonnen planken en spoorrails, aangelegd met weilanden, moerassen en wilde bloemen. De High Line zweeft 9 meter boven straatniveau terwijl hij zich slingert over de route van het Meatpacking District naar de voormalige spoorwegemplacementen aan 34th Street – soms dwars door gebouwen heen. Sinds kort is hij ook een dagelijkse stroom New Yorkers en bezoekers aan het bedienen die zowel een pauze willen van als een frisse kijk op onze non-stop caleidoscopische stad.

Wij van Bond No. 9, leverancier van New Yorkse buurtgeuren, zijn al lang gecharmeerd van de High Line en de parfummogelijkheden die daar te vinden zijn. Een geur die een vleugje stedelijke wilde bloemen en een vleugje industriële rauwheid met zich meebrengt, aangevuld met een vleugje energie van Tenth Avenue en de stijl van een Chelsea-galerie - dat intrigeerde ons.

Het resultaat is een androgyn bloemig-maritiem boeket, dat de winterharde bloemen en het groen langs de route van de High Line contrasteert met intrigerende noten van veraf. De geur begint met een prairiegras - paars liefdesgras - vermengd met citrusachtige bergamot en pittige Indiase rabarber. Het bloemige hart van het parfum bestaat uit roodbladige roos, Lady Jane-tulpen en blauwe druifjes.
