"It's a whimsical scent inspired by a summer getaway" says Rahme, who collaborated with Mane Master Perfumer Claude Dir, known for composing a broad breadth of fragrances that always surprise and totally delight. Island pops open like an effervescent bottle of champagne thanks to sparkling top notes of spicy white ginger, fresh green basil, and a water mint accord that conjures a breezy walk in the park on a summer day. At the heart is a rich green foliage note as a nod to the prodigious flora that coexists with the local concrete. Red seaweed adds a briny, nautical component, and lustrous champaca - a honeyed, animalistic white floral with an otherworldly quality - adds depth. Dor the latter note, Dir incorporated Mane's proprietary E. Pure Jungle Essence, a modern, more environmentally friendly extraction method developed as an update to traditional enfleurage ; it's a cheeky wink to the futuristic architecture of our small but mighty island of New York City. The bottom notes exude a warm, sunny roundness or creamy sandalwood, salty amber and luxuriously verdant tree moss.
